NaNoWriMo Ate My Soul!

Here is my schedule for every day of November:

Wake up. Go to work where I write for a living. Come home. Write recreationally (that's a word, right? spell check doesn't think so...) for five hours. Go to bed. Repeat.

I am currently participating in National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo.

The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I've decided to use NaNoWriMo to finish a novel that I've been working on since September; so, I've scheduled a week of vacation at the end of the month and kicked my goal up to 100,000 words by December 4th (the last day of my vacation)

What this means is that of the 13 hours of writing I do a day, very little-if any-of it will be dedicated to writing blog posts. I know what you're thinking: #sadrhino*

There is good news though:
  1. You still have Kayla. And let's be honest, she's funnier than me anyways.
  2. I haven't left you completely high and dry. For instance I still have a post that mentions porn coming; so, you have that to look forward too.
  3. Kayla and I are bound to do something crazy that I won't be able to resist writing about!

Perhaps Kayla will even regale you with tales of my inability to spell. Or to form a sentence. Or to use a . (period) as my pinky is freakishly long and always lands on the / . (<--oh look, I actually managed a period at the end of the sentence on my first try!)

Anyways, I am telling you about my unavoidable absence in advance because I hate when bloggers just vanish and I don't want you to think I died (would you notice?).

Also, if you even remotely like writing, you should check out NaNoWriMo. It's probably too late to jump in this year (unless we have any participants among us already?), but you can feel it out for next year. They also have a screenwriting version in the spring!

So, never doubt my love for you! I will return in full, annoying force!

*Center Stage: Turn It Up is a terrible movie but is so worth watching just for the last scene** and to hear Kenny Wormald say "fire" and "ballerino."

**I originally wrote "seen" instead of "scene" but Kayla fixed it when reading the post before giving her stamp of approval. And I wonder why people doubt me when I say that I'm a writer. >_<

  1. I am NOT funnier than you, my dear. I just use you mercilessly as the straight man in all of my jokes. Which? Kind of ironic, no?

Also, there's no way in hell we'll ever run out of things to blog about given the insanity that inevitably finds us. I hardly thing I'll have to resort to blogging about your inability to use a keyboard. xD

  2. PS: You're not a bad writer, you're just a bad typist. One day you'll have people for that anyway. xx

  3. I'm a good person so I'm not going to point out your typo in the very sentence where you talk about my inability to use a keyboard. I'm nice so I won't do that. <3 xx

  4. I've read it 13 times and I still can't find a typo. Whatevs. This is what Spell Check is for. =P

  5. In the same words you use to comfort me, "It's okay, you're real pretty."

  6. I am already on the NaNoWriMo boat! My goal is 72,000 words this year. I've been doing it for like, 4 years now, so yay! :) I'm really happy to see one of my favourite bloggers is totally into it!

  7. I'm telling myself Kayla made the mistake she did in order to make fun of Mike for the exact same mistake in his post. Although maybe not, since she didn't fix it when she proofread his post.

Now if it wasn't on purpose, you might both be going crazy trying to find it. YOU'RE WELCOME.

  8. It was unintentional, I didn't catch it in his post and I didn't mean to write that in my comment. And I am now going crazy trying to find it. xD Touche, Peanut. Touche.

  10. I'm doing NaNoWriMo, too! I'm JeorgeSand there, if you want to buddy me. I actually HAVE been writing, but I have no word count listed yet...thought I'd mention it lest I look like a complete slacker. LOL. Are you planning on going to any of Milwaukee-area write-ins? I'd like to get to at least one if I can.

  11. I didn't enter this competition in time but I have already written a novel... Can I cheat and just enter that?

  12. @BadWolf - Yay, my first writing buddy! I will add you ASAP. I'm mikeoui (clicking the NaNoWriMo picture in my section on the "About" page links to my profile). I would like to get to a write in at some point. I doubt I will be productive, but I think it would still be a good experience!

@plumsauce10 (because 9 just isn't enough) - I don't think that would work >_< lol. The whole point is writing 50,000 words. It's not really a competition.

  13. Shoot me a message, Mike, if you do think you'll be getting to a write-in...that might motivate me to get to the same one. I'm most likely to get to a Friday night one, since I don't have my kids on Friday nights (except this one...gotta prepare for my daughter's slumber party on Saturday), and possibly the weekend of the 18th. I've considered organizing one out more toward Waukesha/New Berlin/Brookfield area since so many of them are closer to I43 rather than further west near I94 but the aforementioned slumber party preparations have pretty much stalled those plans for now.

  14. I've done NaNoWriMo in the past. It's really effective if you stick with your plan. I'm definitely doing it again next year when I'm not so swamped with all this "get-my-shit-in-order-and-graduate" nonsense. Good luck!

  15. I do find that if your going to have plumsauce is does need to come in a nice even 10 portions... It just tastes better that way!

As for the "not a competition/word limit" bit... Hmmmm. I need to do some research methinks.
