Two Girls. One Brain.

It has recently come to Kayla's and my attention that we are creepy and insane. This is probably not news to you, our loyal followers. Honestly, I'm not really that surprised either, but it took someone else's point of view to make things clear. I recently started dating an amazing guy. There are always lots of question in a new relationship and the other day my boyfriend sent me this text:

Boyfriend: May I ask you something without you taking it the wrong way or in a negative way? (I don't mean it that way).

Me: Of course.

Boyfriend: Is there a reason you and Kayla cuddle together? I know it's not in a sexual sense. Did it start because you both were single? I just have never been with someone that cuddles with their best friend so I'm just curious. I mean I obviously know she won't steal you from me but just was wondering.

Wait, not everyone does this? Maybe I'm so struck by this because I haven't seen Kayla in two weeks and am suffering from withdrawal, but it had never occurred to me that this behavior might not be normal. I just assumed that all best friends cuddled, finished each other's sentences, had exchanged more than than 41,000 Facebook messages and even more text messages, and at some point felt like they were actually merging into one person. No?

Oh and did I mention that Boyfriend and Kayla haven't met yet? That happens tonight. They will either love each other or want to kill each other. I'm hoping they love each other, but I'm planning on being the middle spoon just in case.

  1. I cuddled with my bffs! Oh and btw the captcha or whatever it's called gave me the word satan to enter my comment. Hmm?

  2. See I knew we weren't alone! I bet you took baths together too! I feel so much better now; this is totally normal!

  3. I don't cuddle with my bff, but that's because he's a straight guy (I'm a bi girl) who has been in love with me for 6 years and I don't want to do a single thing that might give him the wrong idea. I'd LOVE to have a cuddle-safe bff.

  4. I totally cuddle with all of my friends! On the couch, at sleepovers, whatever! I don't know if you were being extreme or sarcastic, but one of my bffs and I have actually showered together (which made her mom think she was gay, btw. Full Story.) I guess we're just friendly people.

Does that make us normal? Probably not. But at least we're a bigger minority than you initially thought!

    Power to the too-close-bffs!

  5. @Peanut That is sooo sad! You need to let that poor guy off the hook so he can go fall in love with someone else!

@Christine I cuddle with my friends but I've never showered with them! For Mike and I there's a line that we don't cross. It's a wavy and indistinct line, but I'm pretttttty sure showering together would obliterate it. xD I don't think it makes you weird or anything though, maybe you're just more comfortable with nudity than I am.

  6. Nope, I am definitely not European enough to be that comfortable with nudity! We were wearing swimsuits when we did. But I totally get how that line might be drawn in front of the bathtub. :)

    1. Oh thank god! Haha I'd shower with Mike if we were wearing swimsuits. Or in the case of zombie apocalypse. We have a system worked out. We keep our backs to each other. One showers, one keeps watch. xD

    1. We have yet to do any threeway cuddling, but we've discovered that if the three of us plays a boardgame someone ends up getting pouty, so we might have to resort to cuddling soon.
